From 1924 to 1927, Father Patrice Violette was the first resident priest in Saint-Joseph of Madawaska. This parish was started in 1920 when Saint-Jacques was split in two. The new parish priest finished the interior of the rectory. Born in Van Buren, Maine, Patrice was the son of Eusèbe Violette and Dina Dubé. He studied theology in Halifax and Rimouski and was ordained a priest at Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière in 1919. Photo taken around 1925.
